Dryer Sheets! More than you thought!

Good Afrternoon today is Thursday May 10, 2012 it's time once again to share some wonderful tried and true tips for cleaning and refreshing our homes. How many of you use dryer sheets? I'm sure many of you do, but how many of you use them for all the needs of your household. Yes the dryer sheet has many uses and I am going to share a few with you today.

1. Cut out dust:Wipe down mini-blinds with a damp fabric softener sheet. This eliminates the static that causes dust to stick. The same trick works for TV and monitor screens
2. Keep bugs away: Tuck some in your picnic basket or under lawn furniture to repel bees from your juicy flesh and encourage them back to the flowers, where they belong. You can also rub a sheet directly on your bare skin to discourage would- be buggers from leaving their mark.
3.  Scrub your showers: Lightly wet a used dryer sheet, and scrub to remove soap build-up and mineral deposits.
4.  In the Kitchen: Soak cookware with burnt or baked-on food in warm water, with a dryer sheet or two. Makes clean-up easier than you’d expect. Also works on cook tops and dingy cabinet doors.
5. Repel rodents: Use dryer sheets to keep out mice, skunks, squirrels, rats, etc from your basement, garages, boats, campers, and clubhouses.
6. In your vacuum cleaner: Place a dryer sheet in your vacuum bag or dust containment unit. As the hot air moves as you vacuum, the smell of the dryer sheets will fil the room and you’ll bulk up your cleaning efforts. (Make sure this is in NO WAY a fire hazard)

Homemaker Tips

 As the weather starts to get warmer out and our children start to spend more time outdoors, so do the mosquitos. So let's protect our babies and selves with a more natural repellent. Instead of using OFF or some other brand with all of its harsh chemicals try a Homemade, Non-toxic, Kid safe Mosquito Repellent. Just buy one of those small 2oz. spray bottles (Walmart sells them) add 10 drops off citronella oil and water to fill. Shake and spray.

In a 16 oz spray bottle, fill half way with water. Add 3 Tbl liquid dishwashing detergent, or an enviromentally friendly liquid soap. Then add 4 tsp. peppermint oil. Shake well and spray!
Talk about easy! The soap kills the ants, the peppermint oil acts as a deterrent. If you don't want to kill the ants, just deter them, then omit the liquid soap and spray wherever you might think they might be coming in the house.

Ladies have you ever had a foul odor coming from your garbage disposal? If so here is one easy and inexpensive tip for removing it.

1. Fill your sink with hot, hot water add grease removing diswashing liquid and then let it drain down into the disposal. ( you may have to do this more than once)

2.After this to keep it fresh try doing this at the end of each day and then add an orange, lemon, or lime skin to the disposal and grind. It will give your whole kitchen a beautiful scent.
