Today is a new day, it is an opportunity to correct past mistakes, seek forgiveness, learn something new, teach something new. It is an opportunity! Alhumdulilah for a new day and new discoveries.
As a wife and mom our role is larger than we may realize; we are the makers of a whole new Ummah. We have a huge responsibility and sometimes it may seem too much to bear. My sincere advice to you sisters is to take a step back and reevaluate your goals and how you can best achieve them. As homemakers we spend lots of time in fact most of our time, cooking, and cleaning and schooling, and catering. However we can sometimes over look our most important job description, and that is cultivate and perfect our children's and our own Islamic knowledge and character.
What was the last book you read on Islam, when was the last time you read a hadith and then studied the sharh(explanation )of that Hadith, or memorized a new Surah and read the Tafsir then taught it to your children? These are the things we should be doing, I am proposing that we make a schedule for our studying just as we make schedules for our cleaning, or teaching. It is important, we have to keep our Iman high in order to help keep the iman of our children and husbands high. Plan a study time and a study group it really helps, pick a book to read together and be sure that you have the understanding of said book. Make a study group for Quran memorization, even if it is only you and your husband and children, it helps to have someone to be accountable to. Then make a schedule and stick to it.
